Learning to swim is an essential life skill in our climate with pools and beaches a major part of our everyday life.

It is vital that both babies and children are confident and capable in any water environment. Our swim school is endorsed by The Royal Life Saving Society. With experienced instructors, with AUSTSWIM accreditations and working with children’s checks. Mercy baby swim offer a number of comprehensive classes each week for 5 months to 6 years for all skill levels.

Join us in our heated indoor hydrotherapy pool and see how our friendly and qualified instructors can help you and your child progress through the stages of swimming in a fun and interactive learning environment.

BABY SWIM PROGRAM: DUCK 1 – DUCK 5 (5 MONTHS TO 3 YEARS)

Our baby swim program is designed to teach and encourage babies to be able to perform lifesaving water skills to enable them to fall in and return to safety. From 5 months your baby is experiencing submersions, floatation, learns to paddle and kick with eyes in the water, learns to safely jump into the pool, swim back to the wall, climb out by themselves and much more!

By Duck 5 we encourage independent swimming.
Our little duck classes have a maximum of 8 to 10 babies accompanied by one parent in the pool.

DOLPHIN PROGRAM: TRANSITION, LEVEL 1 – 4 (3 TO 6 YEARS)

Our Pre-school program for children aged three to six years builds on lessons learnt in Baby Swim, however this does not prevent inexperienced children from entering the program or children with previous experience from another swim school. The program is designed to prepare them for life around water, while teaching them fundamental swimming techniques and skills and to enable young swimmers to develop water awareness, confidence and independence in a class without a parent. Children are placed in ability-appropriate lessons to ensure a suitable learning level environment.

Children at this level are educated by:

  • Reinforcing basic water skills such as back floats, front floats, gliding front and back, kicking front and back, eyes in exhaling and blowing bubbles.
  • Developing independent movement on both front and back.
  • Encouraging safe water practices, teaching basic water safety.
  • Commencing the development of correct stroke technique.
  • Basic rescue techniques.

Maximum 4 children per class.
